A very expensive, discriminatory, and fundamentally unfair workers’ compensation bill is being considered by Oklahoma’s House of Representatives. Many folks think our state’s workers’ compensation laws should be changed. The problem is in the details. If SB1062 becomes law, a worker – a firefighter, a teacher, a police officer, an oil field worker, and the list goes on - that suffers an amputation between their knee and ankle will have the value of their amputation capped at only $46,000. Minimum wage workers would receive even less, as the rate of compensation is based upon how much a person makes. To top things off, it has been estimated that in the first three years, the law would cost Oklahoma an extra $20 million.

Should a felon have a gun? Of course not. Senseless acts of violence should not be tolerated. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all victims of crime. But should a law abiding citizen be stripped of their right to bear arms?

Our firm believes in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. That is why we offer free NRA memberships to our employees – and clients. We should be allowed to protect ourselves and our families. The 113th United States Congress convened on January 3, 2013. Tell Congress that you do not want our right to bear arms to be taken away.
